I can't believe what I just witnessed during my Uber trip few minutes ago. I dropped off a married woman in VGC, Lekki, after picking her up from Evercare Hospital. She was on the phone with her dream instructor, and what I overheard was utterly shocking. She said, "My husband is still in the hospital and will be there for another two weeks, so we have two weeks to ourselves before he is discharged." Everyone knows this. Things cheap die for China and the margin is not even close. Bringing those products into Nigeria is what makes them very expensive here. APC has raised the cost of clearing these goods by over 400%. The end users suffer for it at the end of the day.

The market is competitive. There is no way you can have that sort of competition in the gadget market and use huge profits to make sales. There are times when vendors in Nigeria even sell Apple products cheaper than the official Apple Store.

I flew Economy to Qatar, Egypt and China and it gave me 100 reasons why I should fly business class or first class on my next trip out of Nigeria. I regretted it because its not like the difference was even that much. The quality of people in both classes are not even the same.
