The European Union has ordered Google to make Android more open to competing AI assistants under the Digital Markets Act (DMA). Under the new rules, third-party AI assistants like ChatGPT, Perplexity, or other future rivals will be able to integrate with Android much more like Google's own Gemini. That includes: -Activating through voice commands, similar to "Hey Google." -Performing actions inside apps, such as booking a taxi, replying to messages, or helping with tasks across multiple apps. -Accessing the same Android features that Google currently reserves for Gemini. The EU has also told Google to share anonymized search data with competing search engines and AI companies starting in January 2027.
