The Lewis and Clark expedition might scoff at this. At one point they were so starved for fat, because the wild game they were eating was so lean, that they resorted to eating dogs because there was more fat on them. Protein poisoning is real and leaner isn't always better.

I don't think we have the political will for any kind of special forces operation inside Iran. The risk is too high and the benefits unclear. Capturing Kharg Island doesn't immediately mean regime change. Deploying soldiers on the ground across the strait of Hormuz seems like a good way for them to end up staying there for 25 years. Sending in delta force "counter wmd" team sounds like a short fix if the regime stays in power. what do you guys think?

ever since ww2 the US military had reported casualties, they are legally required to do so. If they didn't, that would be your first sign of something very wrong.

the idea that the US military hides casualties from enemy fire misunderstands how the casualty system works. If you see someone posting this myth they’re self reporting that they are from a country without a free media and with no public casualty record that can be audited . accidental deaths during combat and training operations are in recent history far higher than from enemy fire . 5,605 service members were killed in training accidents from 2006-2020. That’s 32% of deaths. There are counter intuitively many examples of the opposite , where friendly fire incidents are hidden and instead reported as from enemy fire. Initial and preliminary reports can turn out to be wrong , and it can later turn out it was enemy fire but not from purposeful attempt to lower losses from enemy fire. If we see the pentagon decide to stop reporting deaths that will be a bad sign which I think is actually not unlikely in the next month.
