Updated Top 20 #Netball World Rankings post #CWG. No positional changes in the top 6, but NZ closed the gap to Aus from 10pts to 6, JAM went from 4 points behind EN to just 1. RSA don't move, UGA gain 2pts, TON & NI lose a point & MAL gain 4. WAL lose 9, SCO gain 1, T&T lose 13.

Looking at the statistics for #CWGnetball (thanks @ReplayedNetball!) Amy Carter in the top 10 for gains and intercepts! Yet we keep taking her off and not letting her run 60 mins! I just don't get it at all!

@izzynetball You'd think, but i very much doubt World Netball is not strongly influenced by the governing bodies of the big nations

@Netball_Nik I have no idea how it works but surely it should entirely up to World Netball, even with consultation?

@TheNettyLife The world netball website has this section about how everything is calculated - it's unnecessarily complicated & time consuming, but i wrote a helper spreadsheet a while ago, so i just put in the winning team & losing team, press a button & it calculates the new rankings!

@izzynetball 100% but it becomes political - I'm pretty sure Aus, NZ, & EN are quite happy with their (almost) protected ranking. It's like trying to get the major political parties to abandon FPTP - they won't as it ensures their dominance & maintains the two-party system

@Netball_Nik I know it’s been said before but really feel this system needs a bit of an overhaul. It doesn’t feel reflective of the current state of play at all

@YaThinkN Because a lot of Pulse fans (especially younger ones) act like they're in a cult & would have their players selected no matter what 🤣

So if by stats, best WA would be "Joseph or Liverseidge" and from what I can gather Pearson being split between GA & WA means less WA stats per below, why were so many calling for Scholes to get a Roses gig? 🤔

@jedzah I put SA & JAM ahead of Australia. They're very skillful players & the best of the best. Malawi were interesting- they have a very unusual style. I didn't find Uganda all that exciting, though

@Netball_Nik Why? For me most African teams and Jamaica plays with flair which is indeed interesting to watch. The style of Australia is too fast that sometimes umpires can’t catch errors like stepping errors and distance. I would rather sit down watch Jamaica at their best than Australia

@YaThinkN She's no 💎 but she was good by her standards. Her movement and strength need to improve, but she's quite young still and they have been improving. She needs to go outside her comfort zone & play in another club or ideally another country to develop herself more

@Netball_Nik Tchine didn't impress me that much. I thought she had just an okay games, particularly considering the build up about how good she was. Not sure her movement is dynamic enough for a shooter who is not strong enough to hold consistently? 🤔

I think England Netball need to have a clear out - both staff and players. We have some players that simply are not up to the job & it's time we blooded younger players. This wouldn't necessarily be an immediate fix, but it's a "short term pain, long term gain" situation...

@albraju @tomphilip @beemyli Normally I'd say engagement bait, but I've seen it happen myself. Additionally, a manager once tried to give me a warning for not answering his calls whilst I was on Annual Leave in another damned country! 🙄

@tomphilip @beemyli You're assuming that this is real and not engagement bait for creator revenue sharing. Which is more likely? HR being like that, or engagement bait?

HR: We noticed you took a personal day last Friday. Me: It was approved. HR: It was. Me: So what's the issue? HR: You completed several work tasks while you were off. Me: I answered two urgent emails. HR: Correct. Me: Because my manager said they couldn't wait until Monday. HR: That's in the email chain. Me: So I helped the company on my day off. HR: Yes. Me: And now we're having a meeting about it?

@Lizzy_Rose76 @nettyjane5 You need a balance of experience & youth. Years ago, the Aussie cricket team were almost unbeatable. Because they were so good, no nee faces could break into the team. Eventually, most of the players retired within a couple of years of each other & they were suddenly in a mess!

@Netball_Nik @nettyjane5 Completely agree it needs fresh blood brought in. Theres nothing wrong with experience unless it stifles progress and thats whats currently happening.

the way i would absolutely love this, but i fear it’s too progressive for the fuddy duddy brigade at EN

@MelR18 I think we'll see a lot of movement next year when they have a CPA in place

@Netball_Nik Liv needs to go to SSN, I think that's the only way her game will improve enough to really hold her own as our starting GS!

@netstormball They usually update the rankings after major tournaments, so I'd expect an official update soon

@Netball_Nik Could this change again after the horizon series? Might be better for England to be in 4th to avoid the “pool of death” in the WC.

@jedzah This is a projection based on the orficial rules and how each team performed. I expect the official rankings to be the same when they come out.

@Netball_Nik Is this the official latest ranking or simulation. I think Scotland deserves to move high even above Tonga. I didn’t check on trinadad that one nolonger deserves to be in top 12 at all

@HelenaR34713001 It was a tough list to decide. I did find them fairly exciting - i could possibly have put them above NZ (who are clinical rather than exciting) but other teams excited me more (& some less)!

@Netball_Nik You didn't find Scotland entertaining to watch??? They had 2 amazing, stunning matches this week. One against Wales and one against Jamaica, where they played great, skillful netball in gripping matches.
