We're so proud of Nicole Harris, our Donate Life Ambassador and living kidney donor, for the remarkable feat of climbing to the peak of Mount Kilimanjaro! Fittingly still, she did it on World Kidney Day! Nicole is a testament to selflessness, but also to what is possible after becoming a living donor: life still goes on, even at the highest of peaks. 🏔️ Congratulations on this accomplishment, Nicole!

Most people don’t know this: Less than 1% of people who die in the United States every year meet the criteria for donation Not because people change their minds — but because organ donation depends on rare, specific medical circumstances most of us will never face. That’s what makes saying yes so powerful. Registering doesn’t guarantee donation. It guarantees the possibility to save a life. Learn why your yes matters at networkforhope.org.

Some acts of kindness can be so simple, yet mean the world. Every afternoon, a group of construction workers take a moment from their work for a daily ritual…waving to Brinley in her hospital room. She’s just 4 years old and waiting for a heart transplant. Their wave lets her know she’s not waiting alone. 💙 What a beautiful reminder to take a moment in the day to share kindness and hope. 💚 📲 Credit: Cleveland Clinic Children’s

One decision can change someone else’s life. For Chelsea McNichols, that decision began with a Facebook post and a deep sense of faith. That calling led her to become an altruistic living kidney donor, giving a second chance at life to a 4-year-old boy named Reed. This episode is a reminder that hope can connect complete strangers. This is a Voice of Hope. ▶️ The episode is now live 🎧 Listen: podbean.com/pw/pbblog-ed77… 📺 Watch: youtu.be/hoxsYMU8-FQ

This week on 'This Thing Called Life', host Andi Johnson sits down with Chelsea McNichols, whose story will stay with you. Chelsea is a mom of two and a Network for Hope Hospital Partnership Liaison. In 2025, she followed a calling that became a life-changing “yes.” Chelsea became an altruistic living kidney donor for Reed, a 4-year-old who had spent much of his young life in and out of the ICU, waiting in the hospital and on dialysis. The episode drops Friday. Follow along and stay tuned.

“I was born with severe medical complications, which led to losing one of my kidneys at age 9. Since then, my kidney function has drastically declined. To avoid the grueling dialysis process and to survive, I now urgently need a kidney transplant. I am looking for a living kidney donor to save my life.” — Maria, Waiting for a Kidney Transplant

March is National Kidney Month: our kidneys are necessary for filtering out toxins and other critical functions. That is why it's so important to take care of your kidneys before it reaches the point of dialysis or needing a transplant. 1 in 3 American adults is at risk for kidney disease, and many won’t know it until the damage is severe. Our website has information about how to advocate for your health and take care of your kidneys. 💚 Learn more about prevention, transplant resources, and living donor stories at: networkforhope.org/kidney-health/
