Virtual reality is making its way into the physical therapy space by assisting in mirror exercises for stroke survivors. This U-M-developed technology has been tested at the Canton Health Center with positive feedback. michmed.org/Y3V25

Our findings indicate that virtual BoMIs could serve as a potential adjunct for assistive rehabilitation and as a useful tool for motor learning experiments.

Improvements in movement time and path length were similar between the two platforms (virtual and physical), indicating the participants learned to a similar extent.

In our newly published study, perception of task goals influence bimanual performance and coordination in stroke survivors. Novel to this study: Sex- as a biological variable- influences bimanual performance differently in those with left vs. right CVA pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38402657/
