there will never be a reasonable natural hair vs wigs/relaxers conversation until everyone is ready to admit we treat ugly people poorly. When we're ready to admit we abuse ugly people, then we can try to tackle the things people do to escape the fear of being called ugly.

I kept saying Fujimoto was out of it for part 2 and he went with a pseudo “it was all a dream” ending. It’s not terrible but it’s very underwhelming. He tried to marry a superhero story with a black comedy thriller and I don’t think he fully understood what makes both tick.

AFRICAN & BLACK HISTORY
AFRICAN & BLACK HISTORY@AfricanArchives·
By the late 1960s, women made up an estimated two-thirds of the Party’s membership, and their contributions were not just supportive—they were foundational. Women organized community programs, led political education classes, wrote for the Party’s newspaper, and ran initiatives like free breakfast programs that fed thousands of children across the United States. They were on the front lines of both activism and community care. Figures like Elaine Brown, who became the Party’s chairwoman, and Kathleen Cleaver, who served as a key spokesperson, played major leadership roles at a time when both racial and gender barriers were deeply entrenched. Even within the movement, women often had to challenge internal biases while continuing to push the Party forward. As Stokely Carmichael once acknowledged, the reality of who sustained the movement didn’t always match who received the spotlight.
