February is #BlackHistoryMonth! Did you know that Harriet Tubman experienced a #TBI after being hit in the head with an iron weight that an overseer threw? Following her injury, Tubman was unconscious for several days, and suffered from severe headaches, sleep attacks & seizures.

Health & community brain & spinal cord injury care providers should have a good understanding of substance use + current intervention strategies. Providers should also educate patients on drug & alcohol misuse after a TBI and/or SCI, associated sequelae, and treatment programs.
