the news cycle will move on but the damage is permanent.

my boss said defense is likely going to use a principle called “adverse inference.” this is a legal remedy the defense requests from the judge when the police/prosecution fails to produce evidence and can be applied to the missing body cam footage as well as undocumented SCI officer statements. the defense will argue that because the evidence was missing or never documented, the jury should be instructed that they are permitted to infer that the missing evidence would have been unfavorable to the prosecution’s case. unfortunately i doubt carro will grant them any of their requests atp.
