NFT bubble popped and it is not coming back.
The boom started in mid-2020, peaked in early 2022, and collapsed later that year. The market was heavily manipulated and platforms like OpenSea became major drivers of the speculation. NFTs (ERC-721) were never meant to be used only for digital art. The technology enables unique, non-replaceable ownership and access for many different use cases.
Instead, artists began copying each other by minting avatar collections. Most were hosted on centralized servers. Many of those projects are now dead or have completely lost their content. Lack of creativity fragmented liquidity and eventually killed interest.
The current NFT scene is weak. Many large collectors are trapped in their own narrative. They cannot exit useless collections, and floor prices often hold only because influencers continue holding them.
NFTs are also mostly traded on centralized platforms and suffer from extremely thin liquidity. This was one of the key reasons the bubble collapsed.
People should stop repeating the same formula: create art, upload to IPFS, deploy the same contract, mint.
Strong projects are unique and first of their kind. The best projects were never copies of copies.
