@ariadotwav I don't think OP is unreasonable here. She is obviously pro trans from her profile, but she's viewing this through a "death of the author" lens. If Celeste fell out of a coconut tree, would we think of it as "the trans game" or "the depression game (with a trans easter egg)"?

I'll take this a step further and say that the best Pokemon games are when the respective studio sets out to make "a cool game with Pokemon" instead of "a Pokemon game". Almost all of the best games in this franchise are spinoffs
