Highlights at Mann: In Ms. Hines and Mr. Thoden’s New Tech classes, students groups developed business plans to better understand linear programming. Final presentations emulated a “shark tank” experience to fellow students, teachers, and admin. #makingadifference @NewTechMann

Today the NewTech U.S. History and English 3 Literature courses showcased their Westward Ho! project. Students created journal entries that showcased the experience of moving West using the techniques of Romantic writers to go with their Westward maps. #makingadifference

For second semester, please know that NewTech@Mann students attend five days-a-week and at 100% attendance. Our smaller class sizes and larger spaces make it possible for us to do so while still maintaining social distancing and safety protocols.

Due to a recent USDA waiver, GCS is providing free school meals to all students for the remainder of the 2020-21 school year. No application is needed. Breakfasts and lunches are available daily at all schools.

GCS to move to Attendance Plan 2 starting September 8, absent any dramatic swings in spread data. Plan 2 includes 2 days of in-person attendance & 3 days eLearning/week. Approximately 50% of students are in the building each day. Plan 2 will be in effect until further notice.

Gov. McMaster has closed all SC schools for rest of school year. GCS students will continue eLearning through June 4. Teachers will continue to post assignments through Google Classroom for grades 3-12, and Choice Boards will be posted on website and at food sites for grades K-2.

In addition to opening two new feeding/Wi-Fi sites on Monday, GCS will provide Wi-Fi via school buses to 20 additional sites that include Dollar General Stores, Quick Trips, and other locations. Buses will be there from 7 AM – 7 PM, Monday through Friday. bit.ly/3atHBou
