We couldn’t agree more!!

With this redesign, we are not seeking to overwrite our history and the proud colors and images on the flag approved by the Utah State Legislature in 1913, but instead we are seeking to use this conversation to extend the state’s vision to include all of us.

You can start submitting flag designs or design feedback at flag.utah.gov today. There’s also the results of a survey available on the page today. Today’s launch includes workshops where high school students are participating

Before 2011, the Utah State flag had a error in it's design that lasted for far too long, it was not until 2011 when the flag was standardized, today the old state flag is still used commonly, however these are genuine vintage examples from my collection before the standardizaion

@senatorshoshana Utah breaks one of the key rules about good flag designs: never use your state seal. It’s lazy and messy, every time — and it’s about half the state flags! Tennessee, Texas, Arizona, Ohio, New Mexico, both Carolinas, Colorado, even Indiana… all better.

@ATrumpublican @KSLcom The saltire (criss-cross design) on our flag is in no way a nod to the confederate flag. It’s actually because Utah is known as ‘the crossroads of the West’! 🚂

Flags in Utah are really in a golden era. Salt Lake City recently adopted its new city flag (left) and the state’s legislature adopted a new commemorative flag (right) while establishing a task force to assess the need for a new state flag, which it desperately needs.
