The proposal would require greater visibility into how websites and businesses are ranked. If implemented, it could become an early test case for how regulators approach AI-powered search - and whether other jurisdictions follow with similar demands.

🧐 The UK's Competition and Markets Authority has given Google three months to propose changes that would increase transparency around search rankings, including AI-generated search features.

Can traditional media maintain that visibility, or will corporate newsrooms become the primary sources for AI search? The answer is still taking shape.

Traffic that once moved from Google to publisher websites is increasingly staying inside AI platforms. The sources that appear in citations are becoming a new point of competition between media companies, exchanges, and fintech platforms.

Where did the clicks go? According to Similarweb, ChatGPT Search processes hundreds of millions of searches per week, while Perplexity handles tens of millions more. Research from Digital Applied estimates that AI search products have an 82–93% zero-click rate.

Growth now belongs to Web3 platforms that build their own content infrastructure to capture AI citations directly.

These AI summaries occupy over 1,600 vertical pixels, completely burying premium media links below the fold. Paying for banner ads on legacy crypto-blogs is no longer driving traffic.
