The Finance Bill 2024 triggered protests because Kenyans felt overtaxed and unheard. Finance Bill 2026 risks making things even worse: ✅ Higher Cost of Living More taxes mean higher prices for food, transport and basic goods. ✅Job Losses Overburdened businesses may downsize, freeze hiring or shut down. ✅Investor Exit Unpredictable taxes and policies are pushing investors away from Kenya, and the impact of this on the economy and job market is heavy. ✅Higher Production Costs Moving key products from zero-rated to tax-exempt status including animal feeds, medicine and other manufacturing inputs will increase production costs, which businesses will ultimately pass on to consumers. What is most unfortunate is that the powers that be don’t care about the pressure Kenyans are under. Instead of easing the burden, with elections coming up they see this as the last budget under their control, so a final opportunity to milk citizens dry, regardless of the economic pain being inflicted on families, workers and businesses.

Today, I listened to the name calling directed at former President Uhuru Kenyatta in Mombasa, where the Kenya kwisha brigade claimed he did nothing for the Coastal region. As the person who led the Uhuru Delivers Campaign, a robust digital media initiative that tracked, documented and showcased the former President’s flagship projects through research, photography, videography and storytelling, I still have our full archive of data, videos, photos and campaign materials. Here are some of the key projects Uhuru’s administration delivered in the Coast region: ✅ Development of Lamu Port (Phase 1 with three berths completed and operational under LAPSSET) ✅ Makupa Causeway Bridge in Mombasa, which significantly eased the Kibarani traffic jam ✅ Dredging and expansion of Kilindini Port, including the second container terminal and Kipevu Oil Terminal ✅ Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) from Mombasa to Nairobi ✅ Rehabilitation of Mama Ngina Waterfront, which Uhuru personally oversaw and commissioned ✅ Rehabilitation of Kongowea and Marikiti markets ✅ Dongo Kundu Bypass linking Mombasa to Kwale County ✅ Mavueni Bypass (Mariakani–Kaloleni–Mavueni Road), providing a direct route from Nairobi to the North Coast via Mariakani ✅ Malindi–Sala Gate Road and Mariakani–Bamba Road Additionally, Uhuru’s government issued over 800,000 thousand title deeds in the Coastal region to address historical land injustice. To those accusing him of zero development in the region, please list the major projects your preferred leaders have completed in the Coast over the last four years for public comparison.

Those who don’t learn from history are doomed to repeat it. Are we looking for leaders like Augustus and Marcus Aurelius, who built and strengthened one of the most remarkable empires in history through discipline, institutions and long term vision? Or are we embracing leaders like Nero and Commodus, remembered for extravagance, weak governance, persecution of citizens, misuse of public resources and surrounding themselves with incompetent advisors while the state declined?

Let me take this opportunity to congratulate the people of Ol Kalou and the 2 winners Samuel Muchina (UDA) and Kamau Ngotho (DCP) both of whom are incidentally my good friends. Now picture this. 32,000 out of 71,000 voters turned out in both primaries. 8000+ or 25% for UDA and 24,000 or 75% for DCP. In my predictive and analytical model which i have shared thrice in the media, William Ruto will be re-elected even without a single vote from Mt Kenya because of the Tyranny of Small Numbers vs Tyranny of Numbers. I can present this model again and again for anyone to poke holes. Now if Wiluam Ruto gets 25% vote from the Mountain ? Lets see if this improves on 16th July in Ol Kalou. Winning a battle is sweet but winning the war is even more important.

I have seen some people circulating a 2017 screenshot, claiming that I am lying and pretending when I say that Baba was my friend and that I was like his daughter. In 2017, we were on different political sides. Like in any heated political contest, many things were said in the course of political banter, something both Baba and Uhuru openly acknowledged and apologised for, including on behalf of their supporters. From November 2018, I began working closely with Baba, shortly after his appointment as AU’s High Representative for Infrastructure Development. At the time, I was with the African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD), and our office supported his role. I was also part of his 2022 campaign, and in 2024 he personally appointed me into his AUC campaign team. Over a period of 7 years, I had the privilege of learning directly from him. He gave me numerous opportunities, travelled with me across Africa and beyond, and allowed me to sit in high-level meetings that shaped my perspective and growth. That was Baba! A man who never judged me by my tribe or my previous political positions. He saw my potential and gave me an opportunity. He often expressed how proud he was of my work and my convictions. The last time we spoke was on 8th October 2025, while he was still in India, a week before he passed on. I even made a post about that conversation on the same day. That was Baba…my friend! So, to those trying to twist this story to fit a convenient political narrative I will ask, WHO TOLD YOU? Do you claim to know me better than Baba did? And isn’t the same Ruto you now support the one who once called Baba all manner of names? Did he ever publicly apologise the way Baba and Uhuru did? What exactly explains this selective memory, this hypocrisy and these double standards? All in all, yesterday I was in Kisumu, and was so overwhelmed by the love that was expressed. On the way to the rally, so many young people kept calling me by name and saying how much they love me for supporting Baba. Others were even calling me msichana ya Baba. This is the real ground!
