@avidseries I felt compelled to look it up, and where I live had 59 shootings for a population of 1.1 million, and I feel it's quite safe

The first portion of the above tweet is uncomfortable for liberals, and the second portion uncomfortable for conservatives. My favorite kind of tweet.

@Ike_Saul Arguably this already happened with Biden, and it was good. The two main complaints I saw with Biden were that he was old and too woke. I think it'd be easy to run a candidate who was younger and a bit more moderate on woke issues to great success. Why it's so hard I don't get.

My hot take about the next few years is that decency is going to make a comeback. I don't actually think there are many Americans left who appreciate or enjoy this era we are living through; I think the indecency has been tapped. It'll just take a decent, charismatic leader.

When you consider who Trump chose for his cabinet (e.g, crackpot RFK Jr, inept pooch-snuffing Border Barbie, towering human dumpster inferno Hegseth, 3rd-tier legal mind Bondi) and who he wanted but couldn't get (like the serial sex pest and alleged trafficker Matt Gaetz), and how hundreds of people took to my replies to defend the selection of every single one of these absurdities, it's almost impossible to not entertain the thesis of a MAGA low human capital problem.

@Tim_Pettit_ @iamrobinskies And he was running against Trudeau for too long after Trudeau was gone. I think each party has formed their own dangerous echo chamber. Each is out of touch with the average Canadian in their own special way

Pierre having the reputation of being some evil callus conservative has always confused me. Mostly because if you follow him closely this is the man that you get to know. A loving father, empathetic to those who are struggling and need help. He should have won.
Cole Hogan@colewhogan

I suggest you listen to @PierrePoilievre speak about his daughter Valentina. He discusses how she's changed his view on politics and offers advice for parents of autistic children.

Andrew, if you listened to Pierre, his point was that the federal government instructed its lawyers not to make certain arguments to the detriment of their own case. We know that the federal government in fact didn’t make certain arguments. Whether these would have been successful or not is unknown.

The Cowichan decision a) would have been the same under either the Conservatives or the Liberals, since governments don’t write legal decisions (and aboriginal rights are not subject to the notwithstanding clause), b) upheld a property right.
Juno News@junonewscom

Poilievre slams the Liberals for a "land grab" threatening private property over a high-speed rail project, pledging Conservatives will restore protections: "Property rights are human rights." He points to B.C.'s Cowichan decision as proof property isn't safe under the Liberals.

@mattyglesias Yeah it's both bad to focus on "historic firsts" and also bad to ignore the talent you have. I think they learned the wrong lesson from Obama - he worked because he was a once in a generation orator, not because he was black.

@Graff2023 @build_canada The shortage can only be relative to the population growth. If there's no new houses but also no new people, there's no problem. The problem comes when there's too many new people and not enough new houses

If Clinton, a white woman, received the white support that Harris, a non-white woman, received, she would have become president If Harris, a non-white woman, received the non-white support that Clinton, a white woman, received, she would have become president This whole thing is absurd
InteractivePolls@IAPolls2022

AXIOS: Some top Democrats are quietly debating a fraught question: whether the party's best bet for winning back the presidency in 2028 is to nominate a man — perhaps a straight, White, Christian man. Former first lady Michelle Obama fueled such talk recently, saying the U.S. is "not ready for a woman." Democratic strategists have put it bluntly, with several saying a version of "It has to be a white guy." axios.com/2026/03/29/som…

🚨 BREAKING: NVIDIA proved backpropagation isn't the only way to build an AI. They trained billion-parameter models without a single gradient. Every AI you use today relies on backpropagation. It requires complex calculus, exploding memory, and massive GPU clusters. Meanwhile, an ancient, gradient-free method called Evolution Strategies (ES) was written off as impossible to scale. Until now. NVIDIA and Oxford just dropped EGGROLL. Instead of generating massive, full-rank matrices for every mutation, they split them into two tiny ones. The AI mutates. It tests. It keeps what works. Like biological evolution. But now, it does it with hundreds of thousands of parallel mutations at once. Throughput is now as fast as batched inference. They are pretraining models entirely from scratch using only simple integers. No backprop. No decimals. No gradients. We thought the future of AI required endless clusters of precision hardware. It turns out, we just needed to evolve.

Ah, an element of the progressive movement is anti-nationalist. They fundamentally don't like Canada, revile its history, traditions and values. Their understanding of history is virtually nil. Instead, they endorse a mythological universe populated by cartoon characters, good and bad. Their world view is a bundle of bad ideas which they believe, if only we all would follow (or be forced to follow) will lead to a Utopian Paradise where there is no sadness, want, work or conflict. Somehow, someone else will do the work... Most children grow out of this.
