Let’s stop pretending this is only about Kobbie Mainoo. Some of the criticism may be valid, but the real problem is bigger. This is a management failure, enabled by fan culture. Amorim saw this early. He profiled Kobbie correctly and knew he was not suited to the 8 role, and not a 6 either. His solution was clear. Drop him from the starting XI, and when he had to play, push him higher as a 10 where his limitations would not destabilize the midfield structure. That was not accidental. With limited pace, physicality, and defensive intensity, Amorim understood Kobbie would expose central zones over 90 minutes. The evidence is there. Wins with him involved red cards, individual brilliance, or moments of chaos. Wins without him often looked more balanced and controlled. And yes, the fans share blame. We hype every average Carrington graduate into a future world-beater, inflate egos, and remove the pressure to improve fundamentals. Development dies when criticism is replaced by blind protection. The last few games have been poor. We called it out. The performances were declining long before the results caught up. xG has dropped sharply. Shot volume has collapsed. Territorial control and sustained pressure, which were beginning to appear under Amorim, are gone. The players can see it too. There is no structure. No clear game model. No pressing scheme. No buildup patterns. Carrick is offering nothing tactically. Enough with the nostalgia. Enough with the vibes. Carrick may be one of us, but he is not the man to lead this team to trophies. This club needs a serious manager at the end of the season. Not sentiment. Not excuses. Not recycled optimism. Reality has arrived.

Mbeumo has been terrible recently. This is why you don’t let players do whatever they want. Michael Carrick has given him too much freedom, and he doesn’t even seem to know what to do during games.

Carrick’s first mistake tonight was starting the second half without bringing on Šeško or Zirkzee. Everyone could see West Ham came with a low block, and we needed to go wide and cross since Amad Diallo and Mbeumo couldn’t dribble through. He waited until the 74th minute to bring on Šeško and kept Dalot on until the 85th minute, even though crossing is one of his strengths. The only reason I won’t complain too much is because Chelsea dropped points as well thanks to Cole Palmer so we move.
