I’m thrilled to share one of my postdoctoral projects in @LabMoehle ! We created a new mouse model of GNAL-linked dystonia which shows overt dystonia-like symptoms and hyperexcitability in striatal SPNs. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this work! biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

In addition to investigating M5 receptor modulation, this study is the first to characterize Erasmus Ladder deficits in the 6-OHDA lesioned mouse. 6/n

Importantly, M5 positive allosteric modulation did not cause robust dyskinesia of its own, nor did it worsen L-DOPA-induced dyskinesia. Overall this suggests targeted M5 receptors modulation as a novel therapeutic target for PD. 5/n

In this new preprint, Emily Twedell (PhD student) and colleagues identify a functional role for the inhibitory synapses between striatal projection neurons -- shaping striatal ensembles to promote healthy action selection. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

If you’re still here at @SfNtweets, come and see posters from @LabMoehle ! This morning Iggy presents electrophysiological and cognitive changes in the PFF model of PD and this afternoon I will present electrophysiology and behavioral data from our Gnal linked dystonia mouse.

New lab preprint from the outstanding postdoc @Nicholinergic! Here we report new exciting data from a model of GNAL linked #dystonia that we have created. Most importantly, this model shows overt dystonic motor phenotypes, a first for GNAL linked dystonia (1/N).
