Two things can be true at once. 1. Anne Widdecombe's murder is an abhorrent crime and whoever committed it should be brought to justice. 2. Anne Widdecombe spent a lot of her life demonising LGBTQ+ people and we should be able to call that out as wrong, even in her death.

@roseweb8 The new developments are very disturbing. If she was murdered then she absolutely didn't deserve that and I hope her family gets justice for her. I understand that the context may have changed, but I still think we should be able to talk about and disagree with her views in life.

Conflicted about this. I think in isolation it's the right move. The end of last season was far too rough for Edwards to stay with confidence. In context though, it's really confusing. The timing is bizarre and the snakiness around the sacking does make me feel uneasy. #WWFC

The murder of Henry Nowak is a genuinely harrowing case. He was attacked and stabbed repeatedly by Vickrum Digwa, only for his desperate calls for help to be met with mockery by police officers, before he ultimately lost his life. How we respond to this tragedy defines who we are as a society: 1⃣ The British Sikh community are not responsible for the criminal actions of Vickrum Digwa. There is no justification for anti-Sikh hatred, just as there is no justification for hatred towards any community. 2⃣ The police officers involved have serious questions to answer, and there must be a thorough and independent inquiry. However, with more than 160,000 police officers serving across the UK, we cannot hold an entire profession responsible for the alleged failures of a few individuals. 3⃣ This tragedy can either be used to bring people together in solidarity and support, or it can be used to sow division and distrust. We should choose unity over division. My thoughts and prayers are with the Nowak family during this unimaginably difficult time 🙏 RIP, Henry Nowak. You suffered one of the gravest injustices imaginable at the hands of people entrusted with protecting the public. The best way to honour your memory is to ensure the truth is uncovered, accountability is delivered, and lasting changes are made so that no one else suffers the same fate 🙏
