@Augustus__J @toastappreciate @NewZealandBoss No i'm claiming the only reason wages go so far today is because of the productivity gained in the last 35 years. or if governments hadn't stolen purchasing power through inflation, over the last 35 years, the minimum wage would now buy 160K in value terms today

@toastappreciate @NewZealandBoss Gold became unpegged to fiat in 1971, since then Gold has broadly tracked M2 money supply, 100–120x Productivity gains in most sectors have masked this steep increase, in inflation (saved fiat) Land (property) being one outlying asset with a limited supply bucking this trend

@toastappreciate @NewZealandBoss Gold is Money, sound money, without counterparty risk, and has been for over 3000 years. The average lifespan for fiat currency is 35 years, Yes the demand for real money has changed, what changed and why ?

@toastappreciate @NewZealandBoss Gold is money, It's the Yardstick central banks measure value. So the question being, why has the value of fiat currency declined ? Ctrl + P

@NewZealandBoss Gold was much cheaper in relative terms. Gold spiked massively in the late 2000s, some kind of inflation adjusted purchasing power might be a better comparison?

@bigpicturepol @ZackPolanski Our economy is literally a made up system created by people.. created a couple of hundreds years ago. We could redesign it how we like.. like ensuring products are made to be repaired and recycled, instead of planned obsolescence.

The economy was designed, and it can be redesigned. Green councils will not hold back in demanding a change in direction from this Government.

.@ZackPolanski: "Local councils are in a funding crisis, but that's not some natural crisis, that's a result of political choices.. we will be saying with one voice to this govt, it is unacceptable to be stripping money & services from local councils.."

Lots of accusations of racism today after my criticism of Reform for their choice to stand foreign candidates from Bangladesh and Zimbabwe. Uninterested. Restore Britain’s position remains consistent. Foreign nationals should not be standing or voting in any British elections.

This will be my Thailand thread. Bangkok has changed since last I was here. Many more Asian tourists relative to white ones. It’s less seedy and more developed. I guess sex tourists prefer other spots. Lots of Korean restaurants. Many more Indians here as well: tourists and immigrants. White tourists def the minority in central area this evening. Taxi drivers using Iran war as excuse to try and overcharge “fuel price too much”. Probably for the best but the fabled Bangkok of old seems dead.

The potato top pie is always a good choice. Normally it contains beef mince and a few mixed vegies. Best served coated in tomato sauce.

It's time for real change in Norfolk County Council. For too long, both Labour and the Conservatives have prioritised local government reorganisation over democracy itself. They tried to cancel county-wide elections for two years in a row, denying residents their rightful voice. Thankfully, due to the judicial review brought by Reform UK they have been forced to have an election. I'm deeply concerned about Norfolk County Council's mounting debt — more than £900m in recent reports — which risks burdening our children and grandchildren for a generation. We must act now to curb wasteful spending and bring the council's finances under control. Drawing on my extensive business experience, I will work tirelessly to identify efficiencies, eliminate waste, and tackle this debt crisis head-on. While the council faces many obligations handed down from Westminster, there is still significant scope to deliver better value for taxpayers' money. My career spans financial services, property, hospitality, and telecommunications. I've worked as both an employee and a business owner, so I truly understand the everyday pressures facing families and businesses in Yare & Necton. Locally, I've been actively involved in community efforts — most recently raising vital funds for Christian Aid and the Royal British Legion. I've lived in Mid Norfolk for over a decade with my wife and children. In 2023, my family suffered greatly from local flooding, reinforcing my conviction that we urgently need stronger flood defences across Yare & Necton to protect homes and livelihoods. My top priority for the county council is to tackle the enormous debt and deficit Norfolk has been saddled with through years of Conservative mismanagement and failure. Together, we can restore accountability, cut waste, protect our services, and put local people first. Vote Reform UK in the Yare & Necton election — for common sense, for change, and for you. I’d love to hear what matters most to you. You can contact me at: kabeer.kher@midnorfolkbranchreform.uk
