Glad to have been part of this history. I was one of the 1,000 people who protested against Pauline Hanson's meeting at the Geelong West Town Hall. The vast majority of people there were ordinary residents who didn't want her influence in our town.

On this day 5 May 1997, Pauline Hanson attempted to form the first Victorian branch of her racist One Nation party with a public meeting at Geelong West Town Hall. 150 One Nation supporters turned up, however they were overwhelmed by 1,000 anti-racists who shut the meeting down.
