BlackBerry ( $BB) is the most undervalued tech platform on Earth at the moment. Its real-time operating system, QNX, is installed in 235M cars on the road today and is used by every major OEM except Tesla. QNX is also used in other critical applications, such as SpaceX's ships, because it is so reliable and secure. $BB makes money once every time a car with QNX is produced, but with the advent of BlackBerry IVY, a 50:50 joint venture with $AMZN, BB will be able to leverage its installed base to build an app store for cars. IVY allows third-party developers to build apps that leverage all the data created by the QNX fleet. IVY has the potential to dramatically increase BB's revenue per unit of QNX, which is currently very low. As QNX permeates other sectors, such as medical and industrials, BB will have the same opportunity to yield operating leverage, because it is the gatekeeper of the data value chain. For comparison, $NFLX has 232.5M subscribers and a market cap of $195.8B. BB has a market cap of $3.2B. If IVY succeeds, BB could easily close the gap and go much higher over the next decade. Investors who are looking for the next big thing should take a close look at BB.
