@3sikifighter Psp is fixed hardware vs thousands of smartphone hardware setups. Phone companies don't have the same relationship with game publishers that Sony/Nintendo does, and devkits for phones aren't really a thing. When I play games on my phone, I usually emulate consoles.

@D_S_O_Gaming Unreal 5 can be fast, just look at split fiction. It's reputation for shit performance comes from it being the most appealing option for projects that were never going to run well regardless of engine choice.

@Pearl__Everr @meme_blend Core functionality is 3D modeling, animation, and rendering. It's extremely versatile and built to fit into a ton of different workflows, which can make it really confusing until you know which UI elements and keyboard shortcuts you actually care about.

@MagnusMedic In actual biology, rapid cell division would be required for regeneration, which would cause an insane amount of heat to be produced. If the healing is fast enough and large enough, it would literally cook a person, not to mention the increased cancer risk from the gene splitting

@tdkumon This is just how Windows laptops are sold now unfortunately. The jokes about debloating Windows being harder than installing Linux have some truth to them.

@Lighten_Heaven @rpcs3 Big budget PS3 exclusives do all kinds of crazy shit with the hardware that other games wouldn't bother with. The fact that any naughty dog game boots at all is witchcraft

@rpcs3 When are you going to optimize the Uncharted series? It has already been more than 2 years without updates.

@ptrschmdtnlsn So mobile gpus like the one in the switch use a different type of GPUs called tile based deferred renderers. They're very power efficient, but a vertex shader gets calculated about 3x as often, so adding complexity to a vertex shader impacts performance more than you would think.

I'm confused, can't you just put the four vertex lights mentioned into a uniform, then do the vertex lighting mentioned here in the vertex shader? I feel like I'm missing something really basic, we can still do all the same stuff cheaply with a programmable pipeline.
Boundary Break@BoundaryBreak

I think the most shocking revelation ive noticed in the 2020s is that evolution of graphics is kind of non linear. Some effects that were easy in early 3D engines are surprisingly awkward or expensive on modern platforms Video example source: @kiwitalkz

Massive library of stuff on the Unity Asset Store. Way better console/VR/mobile multi platform support. Everything is more 'barebones' in Godot, which usually translates to significantly better productivity on Unity, and for any serious work, time is money. That's just scratching the surface, but will have to do for a tweet-sized response.
