Brennan Phillips was the "opener" tonight for OSU, meaning he was tasked with knocking down a reliever role, but at the beginning of the game instead of later. Despite a somewhat bumpy ride, Philips was able to give the Cowboys 2 scoreless innings, and we'll take it! Here's a good look at his night from the stadium! #gopokes #okstate 2IP | 3H | 0R | 1K | 1BB

⬇️The Table below shows the at-bats that each team had with 2 strikes. Nothing in baseball is ever as simple as it seems, but this past weekend seemed pretty clearly to come down to how each team did once they had 2 strikes. OSU is a team whose part of, if not a large part of, their offensive identity is grinding pitch counts and drawing walks. Well, to do that, to make it pay off, you then have to ALSO be good in 2-strike counts, because, by taking so many pitches, that is going to produce more 2-strike counts. As you can see in the table below, OSU was not good in any aspect of 2-strike hitting this weekend. And, on the vice versa, UCF was VERY good, especially in the 2 close games, and that's IMO, easily the difference between winning and losing. I have not done any research on this part of the OSU offense beyond this weekend, but I would suspect this exact part of the process is what has created the "empty at bat" syndrome that it seems this program has too much of, and ultimately falling short of the goal of winning a Regional and making it to Omaha. Not being good with 2 strikes can be a result of many things. Young players pressing, Veterans with Pro Ball on their plates pressing, young players being overmatched, swings being TOO BIG, slumps in general, not letting the ball get deep to read spin, which requires trust in an opposite field approach. Or, in the most extreme cases, players chasing stats instead of team at-bats. Let me be clear, I brought up that last one on purpose so I could address it. These kids want to win, and they play for the brand, as in ALL of them. And, no one pours more into OSU than Josh and Victor, and Mark, so eliminate the last option, at least as an overall overarching theme. Disagree with the philosophy, and be frustrated with the results all you want, this is a results-based business, and everyone gets that. You play like OSU did this past weekend, and get swept by a school that was G4 just a couple of years ago, you're going to get criticized. People are going to want answers. That part of it is great. It's accountability, and we ALL need that. But don't question the loyalty or the work ethic piece to the equation. That part of it is elite. I'm sure several more factors lead to a lack of success with 2 strikes that aren't listed here, but the bottom line is, this team has enough parts, even in its current carnation, but it has to adopt an "execution" focus. Gotta say, with all the experience this team has, the emotion that is winning the day for me is just disappointed, because we're better than that. We HAVE to be. Lots of season left...See ya tomorrow! #gopokes #okstate

Thank you, Mr. President, for calling it out. Kevin Stitt is a RINO — and Oklahomans deserve to know it. I stand with @realDonaldTrump. Charles McCall and Keating stand with Stitt. The question is simple: Will they admit it and tell us where they stand? America First.
