Looking at options for a 30kW ASHP for a commercial project, has anyone got experience or recommendations of large HPs? Currently looking at a 2x 16kW cascade options

Imagine if heat pumps could make: 🍫chocolate 🥃whiskey 🧀cheese 🍺beer Good news is they can. And they decarbonise industrial heat at the same time. A 🧵 with examples from around the world.

BetaTeach-A Hive Mindset for Heat Decarbonisation
@NickSalini @Ongasuk @MasterThermUK Hi Nick, hope you are well. We need to catch up soon. Have all your engineers filled the survey out? x.com/betateach/stat…
BetaTeach-A Hive Mindset for Heat Decarbonisation@betateach

A very big thank you to @ViessmannUK @ViessmannGroup who emailed engineers to inform them of the survey. Would @NIBEEnergy @vaillantuk @Daikinuk @stiebeleltronuk @idealheating @PanasonicHC_EN be against doing the same? Thanks 🙏 @nesta_uk @EmmaBohan nesta.org.uk/project-update…

So I have this 21kw Ground source and only 420m of ground loop through three bore holes. Only does heating so I’m thinking easiest option is an air to water replacement ? Impossible to drill any more boreholes due to the location 🙄

@UKJay71 @Ongasuk @MasterThermUK It’s not possible to cheat laws of thermodynamics but not all heat pumps are equal. @MasterThermUK can speed control comp according to source inlet temp. Also, it should be checked if the heat load really is 21kW as a ground collector should be sized for the load not the unit.

@Ongasuk @NickSalini @MasterThermUK This is another reason im shying away from HPs, manufacturers saying different things about what is actually required. The minefield grows.. 😁

@NickSalini @MasterThermUK Every Ground Source HP manufacturer I have spoken to has said it’s way undersized, even for a 16kw unit, have three 70m boreholes

@Ongasuk @MasterThermUK Approx 400+m on 21kW unit sounds ok to me. If you can share tech info you have available we can check all that. Be good to know the history of issues too.

Energy efficiency in the UK is now more sought after than traditional home features like a garden or off-street parking. Research from @santanderuk found buyers pay almost 10% more for homes that have been retrofitted with energy efficiency upgrades. santander.co.uk/about-santande…

Mankind is on a path to misery if perpetual growth is pursued at the expense of the environment, argued the king in a 2010 book. Such views may explain why his prime minister did not want him to attend COP27 econ.st/3V4b6oj
