⚽ Villa Park feels like another reckoning
Liverpool are awful, as I seem to write every week, and Villa Park feels like an opportunity for another inspection of the wreckage.
The away form has been wretched, the midfield too easily passed through, the defence too often stretched into panic, and the attack reduced to fragments of individual hope.
Villa have their own concerns, a European final looming and legs to protect, but they remain coherent in a way Liverpool rarely do. They know their patterns, their runs, their route to goal. Liverpool too often look like a side waiting for matches to explain themselves.
The return of Salah for minutes would be welcome, more for sentiment than salvation. Alisson may not be risked, Wirtz has been ill, Isak is only just back, and the options feel stitched together rather than selected with conviction.
There is a version of Liverpool that can hurt Villa, especially if Rio Ngumoha runs at tired minds. But that version has appeared too rarely, and never for long enough.

I must admit I was a huge fan. Loved the way he played football, you are correct in that he would beat a player then go back and try beat him again.
Evans built a team Around him almost. Unfortunately I worry for Wirtz, is he that luxury type player that you have to allow for and will he fit Liverpool in the prem?

Liverpool going for Dumfries over Pedro Porro would be a huge mistake.
Porro is younger, more technical, more creative and actually fits how Liverpool want to play under Slot. His delivery, ball progression and ability in tight spaces are miles ahead.
Dumfries thrives in a wing-back system with protection behind him. In a back four? Different story. At 30 years old, spending €25m on him feels like a short-term patch, not a rebuild move.
If Liverpool are replacing Trent’s creativity, Pedro Porro is the closer profile. Dumfries gives you power and chaos, Porro gives you control and quality.
One is built for transition football. The other is built for possession football. Liverpool need the second.

I think the whole situation is really complicated because the review isnt just about Slot but the whole football division namely Hughes and Edwards
As for Xabi he has to do what is right for his career but if he takes the Chelsea Job and gets sacked for no fault of his own then he is Toast and would never get the job at Anfield
I could see him being a success of Chelsea but moving on to say Bayern then come to us afterwards

I have polarised opinion on this one, as you or many here know that Alonso was one of my favourite players. In fact it was an Evertonion who informed me that he was leaving, it broke my heart. He rejected us and we were honestly fine even with Arne, but now if he isn’t patient enough to wait out for an opportunity to manage us then I’m done
