Lakers individual *regular season* grades: (production compared to salary + expectations):
Luka ($45.9M) - A+
Reaves ($13.9M) - A+
Smart ($5.1M) - A+
Hayes ($3.4M) - A-
LeBron ($52.6M) - B+
Timme ($1M) - B+
Kennard ($11M) - B+
Smith Jr ($1.5M) - B
Bronny ($2M) - B
Ayton ($8.1M) - B-
Hachimura ($18.3M) - B-
Thiero ($1.3M) - B-
Laravia - ($6M) - C+
Kleber ($11M) - C-
Vanderbilt ($12.3M) - D+
Knecht ($4M) - D
Some notes - Again *regular season* not factoring in postseason.
The only 4 players who had a negative surplus with their salary were LeBron (-$24.3M), Kleber (-$8M), Rui (-$6.6M), and Knecht (-$1M). And of those 4, I only think Kleber and Knecht played below expectations. LeBron was the highest paid on their team but I'm not gonna complain about 21/6/7. Rui didn't quite play up to his salary in the reg szn but can't complain about 44.3% from 3. Salary surplus is by no means perfect
Ayton played up to his salary but I factored in his complaining, poor effort, and being an off-court distraction at times due to his comments, so B-
I thought Timme and Smith Jr were great for 2-way contracts (Smith later elevated to 15-man)
Hayes A- might be surprising but he finished games over Ayton at least 10-12x and averaged 12/5/2 as a starter this season on >70% FG
If not for Laravia completely falling off late in the season you can argue he played up to his salary + he played all 82 games. Still optimistic he can gain his confidence back. Close to a B- for me
Smart & Reaves value compared to their salary was insane.
Luka was a top 3-4 MVP candidate in my book and led the league in scoring
It's not life or death if you disagree btw lol. Let me hear your rationale if you have different thoughts!

@izzy2playa Lakers give up way too much on the glass, trading Ayton for Turner doesn't improving rebounding. It does sound like something the Lakers would do because they love building a roster for offense then spend the season complaining about defensive effort.
English

@PlayoffKaden @Asclipiadis113 I like this, but I'm adding Vando to the trade list. JJ refuses to deploy Vando the way he'd be most effective so might as well trade him. Also, if you're keeping Hayes, I'd get another 3&D wing instead of a 2nd big unless you're arguing AT develops some more over the summer?
English

@Asclipiadis113 Im fine w kennard gone.... find someone better on defense
English

Lakers off season wishlist
- Resigning Reaves, Lebron, Rui, Smart and Hayes
- Trading away Laravia, Knecht
- Letting Ayton and Kleber walk
- Trading for a wing or winning RFA on Peyton Watson
- Winning RFA on Kessler or trading for a center
- Signing a backup big/wing
Luka, Reaves, (3/d wing) LeBron, Center
Kennard, Smart, Rui, (Backup center) Hayes, Thiero, Bronny

English

@PlayoffKaden @Asclipiadis113 They used a 2nd for Luke. Him leaving for nothing is poor asset management.
English

@SleeperLakers @Lakers @NBA @lukadoncic @KingJames Why do people say this? Luka is in his prime now. Build for Luka or optimize for Bron is the same formula. The only difference is the Lakers can pretend to have more time with Luka, but all that does is waste Luka's prime.
English

The Lakers’ offseason starts with one question:
Simple Question really
Build around Luka for the future, or maximize one more run with LeBron?
Both is also in the picture minus what conflicting reports will say..
What would you do?

@EddieFwaa @Novig If you're going to call people idiots, you should at least use the right *you're*
English

@Novig Your an idiot if you think this will happen. Bucks will laugh at any Lakers package. That team is 🗑️🗑️

@APH00PS @WindhorstESPN What you summarized is not what Windy said lol. Either way, it's lowkey kinda valid. Why would any one take less just to take less. If my boss said I'm not getting a raise this year, I'm pissed, unless we had a VERY clear path to a promotion.
English

LeBron James is unwilling to take a discount from $50M to help the Lakers save money with no real plan to improve the roster — but he would take less elsewhere if another contender gives him a clearer path to winning, per @WindhorstESPN.
“If you want LeBron to take a paycut, you better bring him a reason [1-2 very good players] to take a paycut ... I think LeBron would be open to that. If you tell him he’s only worth $30M, not $50M, you’re not getting that from LeBron James. LeBron James doesn’t believe in that. I don’t expect him to accept that. If you’re the Lakers and you force LeBron to leave, he’ll go somewhere else for less money. He won’t stay with the Lakers and play for less money.”

English

@NBAdabad @JakeLFischer Employer putting out there that players should take paycuts so they can get talent for free, go figure 😂
English

Ao redor da NBA, existe o sentimento de que, se LeBron James quiser mesmo ganhar seu 5° título, ele deveria aceitar um contrato mínimo.

@PlayersChoice_ Obviously the Wemby Big 3, but OKC has all of the picks so I may pick OKC over the Spurs as a team over 10 years.
