@peterscott1965 I do have to pay him heavy fees! Hehe :)

@oleg_sitsel @Intein @mpimoph @ScienceWriters @absw we still don’t know how they are secreted. Like your work only a subpopulation seem to make them so it could be similar. I think its a common phenomenon as I have also done work on an anthrax like Bacillus cereus strain in which there is heterogeneity toxin production/release

@Nick_Waterfield @Intein @mpimoph @ScienceWriters @absw That's fascinating! I look forward to reading a Waterfield et al. paper uncovering the export mechanism of Photorhabdus PVCs.

1/3 We have finally solved the mystery of Tc toxin secretion in the @Intein lab at @mpimoph! A few differentiated "soldier" cells per bacterial population produce these remarkable, ribosome-sized killer #nanomachines - and release them by exploding!

@oleg_sitsel @Intein @mpimoph @ScienceWriters @absw It’s interesting that one version in a marine bacteria get released by lysis (they are much bigger than TCs) but in Photorhabdus they seem to be able to get out without lysis. God knows how.
English

@oleg_sitsel @Intein @mpimoph @ScienceWriters @absw Have you seen our database? Since we found them in Photorhabdus we now know they are everywhere. It is very interesting that the TCs het released by lysis. I don’t do too much with TCs these days. I have switched to PVC nanosyringes

@LBC @clivebull I shouldn't say this, but Coffey is an incredible idiot. She has failed in every post she has been minister. Terrible. She is far beyond her ability should allow, perhaps her ideal job would be a chocolate taster at Willy wonkers.... God these horrible Tories! So angry.
English

The environment secretary has sparked fury after suggesting Brits should 'cherish' turnips amid food shortages. @CliveBull asks: What do you make of Thérèse Coffey's comments?
