Today is M's alive day. She is on her way to school right now. By this time a year ago I was waiting in the family room of the ER with virtually no information. Mrs. the Geek was on her way. The trauma team was fighting for her life and didn't have time to update us. She's alive

@Qsayswords So we just went with a single field for the default name. It can be anything. First name, last name, both, a single name, anything. Because that is much easier to accommodate than very possibility. It is possible to add other fields, but the default is just name.

@Qsayswords Building a tool for “people.” This includes authors, users, team members, faculty, etc. One of our discussions early on was the name feature because names are really complicated. We tend to default to “first and last” but that’s not great for a lot of reasons.

@Nick_theGeek Wow, today is the 30th Anniversary of Amazon. Jeff Bezo's started it in his garage. It was called "Cadabra" but he changed to "Amazon". My first order was in 2018 and it was actually this book!

Is healthcare at its finest. I have been working with M’s insurance since October 2023 when we first received this bill for services in February 2022. Despite telling them that insurance is working on it, they are threatening me.

@JRDPA I think stable is the best way to put it. No major changes. Still on the vent with low supplemental O2 but no new complications. There is no evidence of any brain bleeds from the scan earlier this week and next check is for 6-10. Overall really good if sparse news.

My sister in law found out she was pregnant at 12 weeks and then a couple days ago was rushed to the hospital and underwent an emergency c section at 25 weeks. The baby boy, who I’ll call DJ, was delivered and taken to a hospital in OKC. He was 2lbs 4oz at birth.

They are traveling to OKC and have been confirmed for attached housing which will have enough room for mom, dad, and the 3 older sisters who were adopted a couple years ago. That’s about all I know for now but would appreciate prayers for them all.

He is on a vent and I assume supplemental O2 and that he received surfactant. His WBC is up so they put him on antibiotics but has not required any additional intervention. His O2 and BP have remained stable. His mom was finally released from the hospital a little bit ago.

@alexleestine303 They see Jesus as only doing this thing where he saves us from some grotesque caricature of god intent on destroying all of mankind in the depth of hell for all eternity but only the ones that believe and do the right thing. And that leads to not just bad theology, but hate.

@alexleestine303 What I see Jesus saying and doing according to the gospels is exactly that. He is quoted as saying “I did not come to condemn the world,” but many of his followers ignore that. They ignore when he said that he came to set people free and to preach good news to the poor.

Jesus: The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free Evangelicals: Jesus doesn’t care about social justice!

Folks, this is the time of year we have a big wolf spider in our bathroom. I think it’s been the same spider and it gets bigger every year. Last year she got to the size that I asked her to please move outside but I guess she came back for winter and good gracious is she huge.

I honestly didn’t think they could get this big. My wife is like “there’s a huge spider in the bathroom.” And I figured it was like the size of a quarter or maybe even silver dollar. She big. Tip to tip I’d say over 4”. Maybe 5”. She’s been relocated outside again.
