Why is a politician allowed to “cross the floor”? Should it not be that if they no longer align with their party, they should step down? After all, their constituents voted them in under their desired party.

@CensoredHumans It’s a rediculous thing, to ban athletes because their country has engaged in such situations. Which ruler upon be given the news that their athletes are banned thought, “ we must change our ways”? Misguided punishment.

Russia remains banned from participating in the Olympics for being at war with Ukraine.
Israel is allowed to participate after killing nearly 73,600 people in a genocide, around 20,000 of whom are children.
Can someone explain this to me?
