It's #WorldMentalHealthDay. I feel so privilidged to be able to work with people at some of the most difficult and complex periods of their lives, working on individual recovery goals and re-establishing an identity that does not revolve around mental illness.

@KwakuOT @OTalk_ As a OT in forensic mental health, I've reflected I've previously been niave about the difference between racist abuse patients give colleagues compared to other verbal abuse we receive. Racism has so much more history and context than a lot of abuse we get. @Otalk

Humour is such a key skill for therapeutic relationships. Forensics requires difficult conversations and boundary setting so often, I don't think my patients would ever want to see me if I couldn't make them laugh occasionally. #OccupationalTherapy #forensicmentalhealth #nhs
