🇧🇬🇪🇺 BULGARIA MOVES TO THE EURO, EVEN AS OVER HALF THE COUNTRY DISAGREES Bulgaria just became the 21st country to adopt the euro, finally checking off a big European Union milestone after years of political chaos at home. This should have been a party. Instead, it set off a political food fight that has been simmering for years. Only about 40% of Bulgarians say they support the euro, while more than half oppose it, according to 2025 Eurobarometer surveys. A lot of the fear is simple: people worry prices will quietly jump when stores convert from the lev to the euro, like “rounding up” becomes a national sport, because they saw similar price bumps in other countries after they switched. But watchdogs say the skepticism was also pumped up by pro-Russian politicians and coordinated social media campaigns pushing the idea that the euro will crush sovereignty and erase Bulgarian identity. The opposition Revival party has led protests, some waving Russian flags, and one crowd in Sofia even tried to set fire to part of the European Commission’s delegation. Bulgaria’s leaders argue the economic impact should be limited since the lev has been pegged to the euro for decades. The biggest shift is political too, because Bulgaria now gets a seat on the European Central Bank’s governing council and a direct say in eurozone monetary policy decisions like interest rates. Jediná cesta k udržitelnému míru vede přes silnou Ukrajinu, která jedná s Ruskem o pro ni přijatelných podmínkách. Jakýkoliv jiný postup je zrada. Pokud to nechápe Trump, tak to musí pochopit Evropa a učinit všechny nutné kroky (další pomoc Ukrajině, investice do obranného průmyslu, zajištění vlastní bezpečnosti…).

@danusenerudova If the blocking point is the fear to see unaffordable gas prices in case of embargo, why don't we start putting higher TARIFFS on Russian gas? It will be an economic incentive to look for alternatives and the money can be redistributed (eg targeted compensations)

Pátý balík sankcí. Je to jako když se škrábete levou rukou za pravým uchem. Uhlí je jen 4,3 % ruského exportu. To není silná odpověď na ruská zvěrstva. Citelně by přebytek ruské obchodní bilance srazilo embargo na ropu, kterou můžeme kupovat jinde a tvoří 46 % exportu RF.

Občane by si taky mohli vybrat benzinky který prodáváji benzín z jiného původu. Co máme za výběr: Shell a co dál?
