Weird post but... I'm really happy. 😊 That's it. That's the post. --- Why am I sharing this? In the past few months I've been building in private and working on personal projects while using social media less and less.. It's been great! 1. I don't check my timeline (sorry if I don't engage with your posts, it's not personal and I still love you) 2. I don't do little posts to serve the algorithm anymore. 3. I don't post all the things I create, unless I have a specific reason for doing so. Results: ✅ PROS: 1. I'm very focused, creative and productive. 2. I made some great professional connections with people who don't even use social media (not everyone is here). ❌ CONS(?): 1. The algorithm made me disappear from everyone else's timeline, so when I share something I care about nobody sees it. 2. I miss some "important" news (this might actually be a blessing in disguise..! 😋) --- The pros outweigh the cons for me right now. 🙂 I used to "burn a lot of calories" here. Now I'm using all the extra energy to focus on "real life" and it's been good! (I'm playing sax a lot and I'm loving it! 🎷) I miss hanging out digitally with a lot of you, but I’m sure life will find a way to bring us together again. 💪🏽 ⚙ Side note about web3: Connecting with people IRL (who might not use social media) is how we get healthy growth for our space and how we avoid the echo chamber/cult effect. I want to do more of this with Nifty Music. --- 📃 In short: 1. I’m still here and I’m enjoying life. 😊 2. I won’t post or engage much (for now). 3. Found this while cleaning my hard drive. Thinking of inscribing it on Bitcoin (just music + static image). What's a good place to do that? Audio is from the original 'Spheres' recordings of summer 2021. Video is new (with BTC orange as the main color) 🟠🪙 The 'lost' Sphere. Soon to be minted (as an Ordinal..?) Side note: The mempool has been emptier than usual lately. It might be somewhat affordable to inscribe larger files. How much will a ≈2MB video end up costing though..? 😬

It's really hard for people to feel proud of NFTs these days... With all the drama swirling around us, and all that has happened over the past few years. But when I think back to my earliest days of *playing* and experimenting with NFTs in early 2020, I wasn't even thinking about "NFT." I was actually extremely excited by *ERC-721.* Being a musician in the crypto space, I googled: "ERC-721 Music" when I was trying to find anything related to music and NFTs. This was many months before the real NFT boom began. I wasn't searching breathlessly for where the quick bucks were. Rather, I was blown away by a concept that was very new to me and had not yet sunk in (despite being in the crypto space for a few years already) the idea that you could have a digitally rare and unique thing - an ERC-721. I just thought it was awesome. And it wasn't until I owned my first NFT soon after that I truly understood the power of what it meant to actually own a digitally unique thing for the very first time. That's the purpose of this technology - NFTs allow digital things to be tangible, and ownable. Without this tech, there is no such thing as a *true digital 1/1.* Fast forward to today, sadly in the music NFT ecosystem, we literally don't have a shared public space dedicated to celebrating 1/1 rare music any longer. This is why I'm building @forever_library. We need a collective minting place that we can rely on, and which ensures we have *all* the options we need. The true promise of web3 apps is using apps that are public goods, especially ones that *no one* owns. Forever Library is meant to be a non-profit public good, which simply is a shared and open minting contract for our music. It's the base layer and onchain bedrock for the future of web3 music. Anyone will be able to use Forever Library to mint and preserve their work, and plug into the blockchain. Anyone can spin up a front end to use it, or any existing app can index it and mint on it as well! We are *re-thinking* this space from the ground up.
