I genuinely love how you all come up with those bullshit narratives instead of just accepting that Cregger was working on this take for years was simply given the green light due to his films Barbarian and Weapons being suprise hits with audiences/critics

I think the movie is just a studio project and Cregger has to make it before they allow him to do one of his own projects. And maybe the idea is to fuck up the adaptation out of spite. Kind of like Oldboy.

No, Zach Cregger isn't "larping", he just seems to be an aggressively casual fan that's more interested in the general experience of playing these games than anything to do with lore. Which, while not at all what I'd prefer, is fine.
