Ok, I bookmarked this comment of yours. I will check back in 2 years. Here's my prediction: never mind fielding the first 6th gen in two years, the US won't even produce a flying prototype without pitot tube by then.

@Wrecked4days @kef34art @Mayoveli I've taken both HSR and plane, Beijing to Shanghai via HSR, then back via plane. Both trips took about the same time, and it's much more comfortable with HSR, no noise and you can't even tell if you are moving unless you look outside, going through security is much much easier.

This cost them about $1 trillion. The truth is, you cannot build systems like this exclusively on the logic of profit. You cannot expect to break even in 20 or 30 years. Projects of this scale are built because the government decides they must exist to serve the people. And this is a problem with systems that are strictly, or overwhelmingly, capitalist. If you leave every problem in your society to the spontaneity of the market, some challenges are so large and so unprofitable that you will never have sufficient incentive to solve them.

@Wrecked4days @kef34art @Mayoveli If you've been there you will know. It's a lot easier than going through airport security and navigating to a terminal, a lot more comfortable than flying, and you will get there faster than flying for trips under 4 hours.

@kef34art @Mayoveli Systems like these suck to navigate. Not sure why raw size needs to be hyped when you need to walk forever to properly navigate them. Smaller dispersed stations are far better & western airports do a far better job minimizing walking through services like inter terminal trams.

@spadex950 @T14enjoyer I know some are now wearing a "butt flap", soft armor that extends down the whole back and covers part of the butt. So when soldier is in fetal positioin to avoid artillery fragment and drones, a lot more of the body is covered.

full-body armor is impractical in modern combat that's why plate carriers are widely used, they don’t cover everything but they are designed to cover the right area but not wearing them properly defeat its whole purpose

@TheWanderWit IMO the HQ-9C and HHQ-9C are the same in function. What's in the photo is something else entirely. It hasn't officially revealed yet. It is what some call the HQ-32.

The HQ-20 is probably closer in envelope to the Aster 30 Block 2, Stunner and Arrow 2. Considering how energetic the HQ-19 is compared to the THAAD, its floor is probably higher. Hence, I expect the HQ-20 to be closer to the said missiles in envelope to fill the gap between the HQ-9C and HQ-19. From a system engineering perspective, for a higher altitude capability, you need more energy and more divert. The latter increases energy requirement even further because all the measures to increase it come with drag, weight, volume costs. Hence, the interceptor needs to go bigger. And the HQ-20 is indeed bigger than the PAC-3 MSE. The HQ-20 may get navalized. It is too early to tell. PLAN wouldn't prioritize it because they already have significant ABM capability and they face no BM threat.

@Jantenki1574 @SocialNomadRach Song military actually won a lot of pitched battles, but couldn't capitalize on it by running the enemy down with calvary, allowing the enemy to regroup and fight again. By contrast, if a Song army gets defeated just once, it's over. Jin and Mongols had tons of cavalry.
