If you go into hospital as an alcoholic, they don't put a bottle of vodka on your bedside table and titrate the dose. They remove the alcohol. If you go into hospital as a heroin addict, they don't hand you a syringe with the meal tray. They remove the heroin. If you go into hospital as a smoker, they don't wheel you outside every two hours for a cigarette break. They remove the cigarettes. If you go into hospital as a type 2 diabetic, they bring you white toast, cornflakes, fruit juice, a jam sachet, and a sweetened yoghurt. Then inject insulin to manage the blood sugar response. Then write in your notes that your diabetes is "poorly controlled." Every other addiction is treated by removing the substance. The one driven by carbohydrate is treated by serving the substance and medicating the response. Have a think about why.

My daughter has decaf in her coffee machine and she lives in the city so I've been going to Starbucks down the street. Holy shit the boomers are right, this is wild expensive considering if I was here any longer I could have bought a Nespresso machine and pods and saved money

My son turned 11 and asked for sushi for his birthday dinner. Done. Made the reservation. Then my in-laws called. They were coming into town and wanted to get together. I invited them along. One problem. My sister in law doesn't eat anything with Asian origin. Says it gives her migraines. For years we'd rearranged plans around this without question. I sat down with my son. Me: Hey. My sister in law sat down, looked at the menu for a long time, and ordered edamame and white rice. She was fine. No migraine. My son ate sushi until he could not move. Him: (on the way home, completely full) Him: Best birthday. Me: (looked at him) Me: Yeah? Him: Can we do this every year? Me: (thought about the in-laws) Me: (thought about the edamame) Me: (thought about his face at that table) Me: Absolutely.

@CaryKelly11 One that doesn’t know anything because Type 2 is not genetic. Type 1 is genetic. Type 2 can be reversed, and if you don’t need meds and your blood sugar is stable, you don’t have Type 2.

You have to ask yourself, what kind of doctor bashes someone who helps people eliminate the need for diabetes medications entirely? Who cares if it’s called reversal, remission or cure. The endpoints are the same. No more diabetic struggles. Moreover, to say type 2 diabetes is genetic conditions people to give up if they have it. The fact is that genetics may set the table for someone to acquire T2D but ultimately, lifestyle and diet are the deciding factors. There's plenty of twin studies to back this up. If your twin has T2D, there's around a 70% chance that you have it too but it's not guaranteed despite having identical genetics. If your doctor tells you that you are stuck with type 2 diabetes and it's not your fault, then you need to find a better doctor.

My professor condemned the male gaze and unrealistic bodies all semester… then published this as her book cover. I have shared this before, but its funny enough to put out there again. My Women & Gender Studies professor spent an entire semester preaching about how evil and oppressive the “beauty ideal,” “male gaze,” and objectification of women’s bodies are……then I found the cover of her own book. No joke you can look her up. Lmao. A greased-up, Photoshopped male torso with perfect abs and hands yanking down the jeans like budget OnlyFans bait. Those abs didn’t come from “dismantling the patriarchy.” They came from the gym and whatever lighting crew made this look like softcore erotica for thirsty housewives. She spent weeks guilting her students about unrealistic beauty standards while literally selling the male version of it for profit. The hypocrisy is Olympic-level. The grift is elite. I will say thank you Professor Risk. This helped put that seed of doubt that broke the spell.

@NineCato High School really should be about weeding out academic scholarship and trades. Both serve a purpose and students need to sort out/choose which they'd prefer to spend their life doing. We should be embracing that instead of shoehorning everyone into intellectualism.

It’s a weird thing I never understood. Only 1 in 4 Americans have the IQ to complete a useful degree so demanding the other 75% to go into debt for a degree that doesn’t guarantee anything. And pulling the vocational education was a terrible idea.

I just broke up a fight. There’s raccoons on my patio and I heard awful growling, snapping and screeching. I opened the door and said HEY! no fighting! The two just crouched down and looked sheepish. Come on now share! The both came to eat from the bowl at my feet 😂
