Some quotes are just as true today as they were the day they were written. Freedom isn't something to overlook. It's something to protect.

On July 11, 1804, a duel that would become legendary in American history took place. Vice President Aaron Burr fatally shot Alexander Hamilton, the architect of the nation's financial system in Weehawken, New Jersey. The longstanding rivalry between Burr and Hamilton came to a head after controversial remarks at a dinner. Interestingly, Hamilton reportedly intended to "throw away his shot," but Burr did not. Although accounts of the duel vary, it is clear that both men fired their shots almost simultaneously. This event severely damaged Burr's reputation and political career, as he was widely condemned as a murderer and later faced charges of treason in unrelated political matters. On July 10, 1943, the Allied forces launched their assault on Axis-occupied Europe by landing on Sicily, near Italy. The British 8th Army, commanded by Field Marshal Bernard Law Montgomery, landed in the island’s southeastern region, facing minimal opposition from the weakened Sicilian troops. Concurrently, the U.S. 7th Army, led by General George S. Patton, came ashore on the southern coast. By the third day, the Allies had successfully deployed 150,000 troops on the island. On this day in history, July 6, 1785, the Continental Congress made the dollar the official currency of the U.S.! 💵 This pivotal move helped stabilize the nation and established our national monetary system after the Revolutionary War. To support the economy, they adopted the base-10 system: 10 cents = 1 dime, and 10 dimes = 1 dollar. It took decades for full adoption, but the dollar has since become one of the world’s most widely held currencies.
