Decided to be a good citizen. Inspired by PM’s call for austerity, left the car at home. Auto to the Metro station: ₹30. Metro ticket: ₹30. Feeder bus for the last stretch: ₹20. Total one way: ₹80. Return journey: another ₹80. Grand daily total: ₹160. My car gives 14 kilometres to a litre. Office is 7 kilometres from home. Roughly ₹100 a day, door to door, including the petrol and the quiet dignity of arriving without fuss. Public transport, in other words, costs me ₹60 more than driving myself. Per day. In a city with a functioning Metro. This is what we call last-mile connectivity gap — the small, unglamorous gap between the grand infrastructure and your actual front door. The next Jyoti CNC is already there, doing ₹220 crore in some estate off the highway. Rajkot doesn’t need your attention to compound — but if you give it attention, it pays you back.

Instead of Modi ji asking ordinary people not to buy gold, government should audit officials in the RTO, land revenue, traffic enforcement, 2-3 times MLA etc who have been in service for 10–15 years. Even a basic raid would uncover black money and hidden gold worth more than the economy of a small country.
