Her directorial debut, Little Black Dress, was a short film shot in Nairobi in 2019. It premiered in competition at Africa International Film Festival in Nigeria, Luxor African Film Festival and featured at the #ANE2022, "This is Not How."

Esteri Tebandeke was an artist, storyteller, filmmaker, dancer and made space where there was non. She understood being an African woman artist is to create not just art, but also room for it to breathe. We send condolences to her dear family and friends. May she rest in peace.

In art history, the creative labor of women has often been recorded without specificity- relegated to the margins as "anonymous" or"generic craft". In the #Karibuproject, we believe naming is authorship and intellectual sovereignty. We are proud of the 17 visionary artisans✨

Namala Olivia has a commitment to enriching her community and she founded Namala Art and Craft for Community Development in Mukono. Her work focuses on hand crafts, collaborating with local youths and women fostering creativity and skill development utilizing local fibres.

The #Karibuexhibition opening was full house and we are so grateful to everyone who braved the journey to Nakwero to support our work. If you missed the opening, there is still time until 7th April, weekdays 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Public holidays and weekends on appointment!
