I looked immaculate when I joined the Fire Service What I look like does not permit men to treat me differently and degrade me in the way I was From being made to remove my clothes for my medical to being kicked in the face, threatened to be punched and far worse

@MartinSLewis So @MartinSLewis it’s all about looking at your rates - comparing it to the get out cost to basically “get out” and go elsewhere on a variable with another supplier? Cost to change versus ongoing “higher” charges for however long you have left on your fixed?

WARNING: On an energy fix CHECK NOW if your price just rocketed. On Sat, those who locked in on costly fixes - usually c.1yr ago - lost the govt 'Energy Price Guarantee' subsidy. If so you will see rates jump to substantially more than the price cap rates (see end of this tweet) So check if your fixes rates have changed. If so, and it's materially higher than the cap rates you should consider ditching the fix and moving to your provider's price cap (though factor in any early exit penalties) PRICE CAP RATES: Average direct debit price cap rates from 1 July - ELEC. Standing charge: 53.0p/day Unit rate: 30.1p/kWh - GAS. Standing charge: 29.1p/day Unit rate: 7.5p/kWh Yet this varies by region (and doesn't apply to N. Ireland) and how you pay. For exact info for you go to #unitrates" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">moneysavingexpert.com/utilities/what…

@DiamondBedding Nothing nicer than new duvets and pillows 😀 Except popping on some high (but not too high maintenance) cotton covers. Thank you for amazing service and fabulous products. And now …. To look at it as can’t crumple in them! 🥰

@glazingblogger happening all over. Emails to say RMS is being “replaced” to a percentage overall increase to allow for a “more static price” 🤣 bollocks. The overall price increases are beyond and there seems to be no actual hard factual info to back it. 🤷‍♀️ gonna be dog eat dog. Crack on!

Composite door supplier emails to say freight surcharge is being removed, but to then be replaced essentially with an energy surcharge that continues to rise.

Far from the best weather for ‘new bike day’ but we managed the 165 miles back 🥶🙌. All the salt has been thoroughly jetted off and I can feel my feet again 😂 Great service as always from Raymond and @DucatiGlasgow

@glazingblogger Trickle vents certainly have a place BUT the decision as to what properties do and don’t require them, the homeowners approach to venting using good old fashioned night vents etc, has been removed by ill informed legislation to cover the masses that cannot be monitored by CPS

There's not a single mention of energy efficient glazing in this report. Once again, our sector is being sidelined despite the vital role it plays in keeping homes energy efficient. Our sector needs to be increasingly concerned at the lack of representation it gets in Govt plans.

Excl with @MrHarryCole - Nearly half a million households could be left out of pocket with no savings by 2050, net zero review finds - Boiler ban should be brought forward to 2033 - Buildings should have solar build on top thesun.co.uk/news/politics/…

Until our industry looks like a seriously professional sector, prepared to work with new regulations instead of fighting them, properly embrace qualifications and competency, then we will never, ever, be taken as seriously as other sectors.

Glazing Facing Another Kick In the Teeth ⏩ow.ly/Rvpk50MoZvM The government looks to have eliminated glazing on the list of eligible measures for yet another energy saving scheme despite calls from the @GGF_News for the industry to beat a consultation deadline.

@glazingblogger You should see my rant post on the forum. It’s quite frankly embarrassing to say we work in this sector atm.

@NlandGlass I have to agree with all of what you have said. The reason other sectors get listened to is that they are able to coalesce as one. Set aside ego and personal motives, and get behind a cause. We can't even agree on a single position on trickle vents!

@glazingblogger Glass industry could do with stepping up the QC IMHO. That, and as someone else said, seeing school boy errors where finishing isn’t really good enough.

In a general sense, is the quality of the products produced in the UK fenestration sector good enough? Qualities will naturally differ between niches, I appreciate that, but are we doing a good enough job in the round or do we need major improvement?

@glazingblogger Will be watching! The industry ducks are out paddling already judging by the level of non subscribed marketing emails into our inbox. Shame it’s promises without back up or substance mostly. 🤷‍♀️

We are, and there will be plenty to talk about. Especially with the turmoil happening right now, what it means for our industry and some ideas on how to navigate these next few very precarious months. Some beer will be needed!
