It really depends on whether the kit is proprietary or uses standard components. If it’s standard hardware, there’s a good chance it can be reused or repurposed. The real challenge is the software. If it’s proprietary, even if you buy the rights, maintaining and updating it can be a nightmare, especially if you can’t secure the original development team who actually understands the codebase.
