Christine Duffy needs to take a very long walk off of a very short pier, as she is going to be the ruin of the Carnival brand. FYI, I just dumped all of our CCL stock holdings, as I only see a downward trend possible after the smug attitude she projected. Bad, bad woman!

… of the need for one due to the problematic nature of an attraction that can’t run at its designed capacity yet. I was assured by multiple people in the company that no one likes virtual queue for battle at the ministry… it’s just a necessary evil until they can get things to a sort-of reliable capacity level. I think they would be okay if they could just post a long wait, but the wait time right now could be more than 3 or 4 hours, so it may be best to let this pan out. Those that know me well know I’m a queueing expert. I can tell you that I hate virtual queues. I know you need to give your guests a choice. If there aren’t any slots left, that choice for your guest to experience an attraction is gone, it has been removed from them. That leads to major guest dissatisfaction. I’m ok with using virtual queues in the middle of the day, but you need to go back to a standby queue at some point before closing time. That said, I can’t accommodate a 4 hour wait at closing. So I have to respect the current immediate need to have the VQ, but I hope it’s gone within a month. I think everyone does want it gone ASAP. The rest of the attractions not using VQ seem fine, they’re doing a good job of running things in most other areas of the park. I will say that I hope the Constellation Carousel has a completely separate and adequate maintenance budget. This is a kinetic masterpiece of the park, but man oh man is it going to need daily maintenance. These are very delicate animals to ride on and it’s going to be a pain to keep them up properly. Look at what it costs to do normal carousel maintenance and double or triple it for this ride, it needs tons of TLC to keep it going and looking good. The embedded fiber optics inside the animals are probably a big cost, but I thought about what it would take to resurface something with embedded fiber optics and I was overwhelmed. And that doesn’t even account for all the other amazing lighting effects or the outdoor nature of exposed metal panels or any of that. Get some love for this carousel. And maybe some merch to go with it, the animals on this carousel are gorgeous. Maybe the merch sales from the carousel can help pay for its extra continued maintenance costs. The fountain. Oh my gosh what a fountain. Such a beautiful fountain. I spent hours just laying by the fountain and enjoying it in the evenings. The fountain shows are beautiful. But WHY THE HECK IS THERE NO TRAVELLING IN ANY OF THE FOUNTAIN SHOWS?!?!? What is traveling you ask? It’s when one jet follows another in rapid succession of bursts on a linear path. They literally built a linear path of fountain nozzles through all of celestial park but for some strange reason no one programmed the fountain that way to utilize them. Bring me in and I’ll do it myself! What a complete waste. This needs to be fixed. It’s killing me that it wasn’t programmed this way. If it’s a limitation of the way the nozzles were implemented into the software so there is no individual control, I’d bring back the installer to fix it. Sorry, I’m passionate with fountain shows, and this one is stellar, but it could be extraordinary and only the programming is limiting it. Okay, end fountain rant. Live entertainment. It looks like there is a performance corridor built into Celestial Park. How come there is no parade planned for the opening? How come we haven’t seen a fireworks show announced? I don’t get it. Maybe we need more restaurants open in Celestial Park before you can do fireworks shows, and that’s fine, but where is this stuff? The random tribute bands aren’t cutting it. Oh, a quick shout out to management: This park is managed by some of the top people in Universal, if not the entire attractions business. I know many of them. I love how they’re managing this park’s opening. Excellent job. Keep it up. I don’t give compliments often, but you deserve it. You know who you are. I’m getting a bit tired of writing right now, but I’ll come back to this later..

I now have been to Epic Universe enough times to have a fully formed opinion on the park. I went many times: during construction, during TM previews, and during AP previews. This park is incredibly stunning. Much like how EuroDisney was built by the next generation of Disney Imagineers that wanted to fix all the things done by their previous generation (that they admired but knew could be better), this is the park of the next gen. I would say it’s the next gen of Universal Creatives, but the vast majority of people in Universal Creative have worked in other places & the market has changed a lot for theme park design. The magic of Epic Universe is that this creative team somehow convinced Comcast to do an IP-driven park but make the largest land of the park not IP-Driven: Celestial Park. It’s a mix of Discoveryland and World’s Fairs and Expos and so much more. It’s the land that us insane theme park nerds have wanted to see for decades. And it’s designed to be seen at night. It’s gorgeous in the day, don’t get me wrong… but at night… it’s difficult to leave. I can’t wait until all the additional pathways open. I know they’re in a rush currently to seal all the new concrete, but the extra paths go to the water’s edge and I want to explore them. The food game is better than ANY Universal park. Dare I say it’s better than most Disney food options in the parks as well. And being able to sit down in quick-service and scan a QR code on your table and have the food and drinks brought to you… that’s the perfect balance for quick service. The counter service is still there in some lands too, but delivery to table just makes everything better. That said, Universal needs to work on three things here: 1. Customization of dishes when ordering through the app. Currently it doesn’t even allow you to say no garnish or no ice. That needs to be fixed. 2. ID requirements for alcoholic beverages. Disney lists the IDs they accept. Passports (Books and Cards), US Driver’s Licenses, US Military IDs, Nexus Cards (For Canadians), etc. Universal doesn’t post the ID types they accept. It’s hit or miss depending on who you get selling you a drink. This is one of the few things where I believe that there should be alignment with Disney on this issue. I don’t care about the 1 drink per person thing, but the IDs accepted and the ID requirements need to be consistent for a better guest experience for most guests that visit both sets of parks. 3. Crash Kits. When the app goes down, they don’t know how to sell you food. Get some mobile units with the ability for contactless payment and keep them at all F&B locations. If anything happens to the app, everyone is going to go hungry. Merchandise is strong in the parks. Captain Cacao is insanely popular already. They need to make more merch based on him (and Maya). Adopting a dragon is cute in Berk, but they could have made that a more involved experience. The wand store experience in Paris is fantastic. Darkmore seems like the costumes will sell well if they can get more people to do the makeup experience. They probably need to train the makeup artists on responsible vending and after checking ID, put a wristband with the name of the guest on guests that they “transform”. This should allow for the sale of alcoholic beverages after a transformation (a big issue right now). Not sure how they fix the photo locker problem besides scanning a QR code. Attractions Ops is still the biggest problem in the park, but this is to be expected. Working through software issues with new rides means extended downtimes. Policies not exactly cemented in stone allows for weird things (I got a lecture from a “trainer” about my full sized umbrella, which Universal does have a global policy to accommodate, but this guy was insane. I wish Universal had umbrella-sized lockers near load and unload at attractions, that would fix the problem) and the like. No one likes virtual queue but generally people are understanding… 🧵

@StarowNiklas After watching the case, I believe the jury got it right. What was shown beyond a reasonable doubt was that Collin Griffith's life and wellbeing would be in danger if/when his mother went to that mobile home and he expressed only that he would do what he had to do in defense.

If the prosecution does not prove beyond a reasonable doubt, it is not a miscarriage of justice. It is a failure of the investigators, the cops and the prosecutors. Don't get lazy with a case you think is a slam dunk, you will loose. #CollinGriffith

"That little psychopath!" #CourtTV's Julie Grant says #CollinGriffith's acquittal is "nauseating" and "a horrifying miscarriage of justice." Plus, should #MichaelJordan's son have name-dropped his dad during his arrest? #CourtTV youtu.be/x-OkuQP0yH0
