The OVC now ranks as the 27th (of 31) best conference in college basketball with an overall record of 19-55 record against Division 1 opponents.

@NobodyKnowsOVC can we bury Little Rock now?

.@WIUMBB vs. @DrakeBulldogsMB (-17.5) I'd like to be the first person to put the Country on notice for tonight's matchup. Maybe I'm naive, I mean, WIU is still looking for their first D1 win. But when I break down a game — one thing | always look at is game flow... and tonight, it favors the Leathernecks. These are two teams that like to play slow and use the entire shot clock and that's where WIU has thrived. The average number of possessions in a D1 college basketball game is 69. When WIU plays in their style, under that mark, they lost by 5 in their first game of the season, 10 to a Cal Baptist team that's 7-1, and held lowa to 77 points. The same lowa that scored 99 against fellow OVC member SEMO. When WIU has the ball, they're focusing inside, using their size to create separation, and Drake is going to struggle to stop that. That's where this game will be won or lost. These teams are very similar on the other side of the ball. I really like the Leathernecks chances in this game.

.@SEMOMBB (-1.5) vs. @calpolymbb This game is a prime example of: do you stick with what you know? Or do you play your opponent cal Poly plays fast, really fast. 2nd in the country in tempo fast. And they also rank 25th in the country in 3 point attempts per game. And they're really good when they play in this style - but SEMO's defense is better. The Redhawks closeout defense on the perimeter is potentially the best in the OVC - they will not allow clean 3 point looks. So does Cal Poly stick with what they know? However, Cal Poly outsizes SEMO in every position - and that typically does not bode well for the Redhawks. SEMO currently stands dead last in defensive 2 point FG%. To be fair, they've faced the #1, 8, and 12th ranked 2pt offenses. Now, don't misunderstand me when I call Cal Poly a bigger team.. they re tall, not big. Their heaviest guy who sees playing time is 6'6, 215. A "big" game for them means that they stick to their fast tempo, but with more drives the basket., not post ups from their big men. Well that's still advantage SEMO. I'll pick SEMO to get their first D1 win tonight.
