A Seattle man who shot and killed an eight-month pregnant Korean-American woman and nearly killed her husband when they were driving to work has been found not guilty by reason of insanity. Cordell Goosby m—rdered Elina Kwon and her unborn baby in June 2023 when they were stopped at a red light. Prosecutors did not charge him for killing the baby due to concerns about protecting abortion in the liberal state. After hearing testimony from defense medical experts that Goosby was "insane" at the time of the shootings, the prosecution agreed to have the case ended through the not guilty motion. Ius sanguinis, la Corte Costituzionale ha dichiarato legittime le restrizioni alla cittadinanza italiana per discendenza, dando ragione al governo. La questione era arrivata alla Consulta dopo la causa presentata da 8 cittadini venezuelani al Tribunale di Torino, che avevano chiesto il riconoscimento della cittadinanza italiana. Le restrizioni erano state introdotte dal governo dopo il forte aumento delle richieste negli ultimi anni dal Sud America. In molti casi il passaporto italiano è stato chiesto da sudamericani per trasferirsi e lavorare in altri Paesi UE, in particolare in Spagna, oppure per facilitare viaggi negli Stati Uniti.
