@JoeA_NFL @Jorden_____ Say ty Simpson fails as a byproduct of external factors and decision makers are incapable of properly analyzing the situation - GM gets fired because he becomes the obvious easy scapegoat. GMs are financially incentivized to risk aversion due to nfl complexity

@JoeA_NFL @Jorden_____ Problem is, as you have stated yourself numerous times, is that a large portion of front office and ownership is composed of reactionary, results oriented midwits that are incapable of separating signal from noise, and have no conceptual understanding of causality

MT was a star and Vonn was a solid starter. Tyler Shough is the starting QB and Riley started a majority of the season as a rookie. Kelvin Banks started 17 games and looks like a cornerstone LT. The two this year still haven't played. There's one of the five picks who is a TBD because he got hurt.

@SRkeste90798 @FreakyPeezy That’s simply not true historically or analytically. Why did Barry sanders win 1 (one) playoff game his entire career? And this in an era where run game mattered more. Read the article I posted before, I promise it’ll edify everything I’ve said prior regarding this subject.

@Nollij1 @FreakyPeezy A generational running back will have much more significance than (maybe) a good edge (they’ll be mediocre at best in the league, which we can just resign Cam for if that’s the bar) and another Olave comp WR or one that can’t stay on the field

@SRkeste90798 @FreakyPeezy Correct, but that drives home another point that is extremely salient - running back success is predicated so much on o line and scheme, and reinforces the foolhardiness of drafting RB so high when everything else is incomplete.

@SRkeste90798 @FreakyPeezy It’s hilarious that you used jeanty as an example when he’s like the poster boy of why not to draft a RB (as good as he is) so high - the raiders had tons of holes and as such his value was significantly blunted due to external factors.

@SRkeste90798 @FreakyPeezy No, a receiver like I’ve stated numerous times (or an edge, or corner). Which we would not only pay significantly below market value, but would also contribute more valuable production than the next best alternative. And again you’re still ignoring second order effects

@SRkeste90798 @FreakyPeezy It’s not a matter of IF we have it, we obviously do, it’s about optimal allocation of capital. Using a non trivial percentage of our resources on RB that could’ve been used to pay a more valuable position is poor roster construction. You have to think 2nd and 3rd order effects!

@SRkeste90798 @FreakyPeezy What? Roster building in the nfl is predicated on positional value being properly compensated based on value added to team. How is this even an argument? If love added 2 wins to our team but we paid him 100 million a year would you still want him over two Myles Garretts?

@JoeA_NFL This is a fight very much worth fighting, and it becomes hilariously obvious that even if he WAS generational, drafting him top 5/10 just doesn’t move the needle that much unless your team is already stacked everywhere else (uncommon for teams drafting that high)

There are probably less than 1000 Twitter users who have actually watched Caleb Downs play football but there are millions of tweens ready to vomit in hysteria if you say the undersized, mediocre athlete at strong safety is anything but generational.

@SRkeste90798 @FreakyPeezy Alright so, what does acknowledging any other good saints offense even mean? Genuinely don’t even know what you’re talking about here when the crux of the argument rests on running backs being highly replaceable

@Nollij1 @FreakyPeezy You refuse to acknowledge any other good Saints’ offense except for the 1 season they won the SB because it doesn’t support your argument, that’s how dogshit your argument is

@Nollij1 @FreakyPeezy Hell man, look at the Saints best offense. Every single one of them had one of the best run games in the league. Most of them we have a bunch of Mason Tiptons at WRs. You can talk about “positional value” all you want, but absolutely nothing supports your argument

@SRkeste90798 @FreakyPeezy There’s one running back on the field, there’s 3 receivers (assuming most common alignment). Who would an 8th overall pick wr replace on our current roster? You don’t know what you’re talking about

@Nollij1 @FreakyPeezy So you’ll compare Love to our RB1 but you won’t compare Tyson/Tate to our WR1, that’s not even a similar comparison roster-wise. Your argument is so bullshit that you had to argue Tyson/Tate compared to practice squad members

@SRkeste90798 @FreakyPeezy I’m “biased” against running backs because that’s the methodologically sound position to hold provided you understand how the modern nfl works. If you’re too lazy to actually dive into the data I’ll be happy to give you an easily interpretable synopsis

@Nollij1 @FreakyPeezy That’s not true at all. There’s a massive difference between the range Love had and Etienne. You just don’t see it because you’re biased against running backs
