HARARE – A high-powered delegation from COSAFA and FIFA, led by Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) President Mr. Nqobile Magwizi, toured Geo Pomona’s waste management facility today, praising the site’s world‑class sports infrastructure and its impact on local communities. The delegation inspected a FIFA‑certified football pitch, tennis courts, and basketball courts – all built on land that was once a dumpsite. “What makes this beautiful is the story of transformation behind it all,” a Geo Pomona representative said. “To have a FIFA‑certified football pitch standing within a waste management facility, on land that was once a dumpsite, is nothing short of remarkable. From trash to treasure, from garbage to glory.” Beyond the facilities, the delegation expressed particular appreciation for Geo Pomona’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, which use sport to build hope, discipline, and opportunity in the surrounding community and across the nation. “The visit was a celebration of vision meeting action,” the representative added. “The delegation’s appreciation was truly humbling.” Mr. Magwizi and the visiting team were credited for recognising the ongoing work at the site, which has been dubbed a “from dumpsite to dreams” legacy project.

The attacks on Phakelumthakathi over his relationship are actually exposing how weak that argument is. The fact that he is dating a Zimbabwean woman alone already dismantles the narrative that he is “xenophobic.” You cannot seriously label someone as hateful toward foreigners while they are in a relationship with a foreign national who is legally in the country. This proves the issue has never been about nationality ..; it has always been about illegal immigration and lawlessness, not people who are in the country through proper legal channels. Trying to use his personal life as a political weapon doesn’t add sh!t. It just shows desperation to discredit him instead of engaging with what he is actually saying. At the end of the day, personal relationships don’t cancel out a stance on law enforcement. The two are not the same ..; and pretending they are only weakens the argument being made against him.

@mazwiblose2 I find it retarded to go after foreigners who aren’t even formally employed or have little significant employment, instead of pushing your government to make reforms, foster transparency and channel resources to create openings for proper jobs, you want spaza’s… Asazi

@kays1984 @SRavengai @swazineka UK has a big startup culture, inventers have access to capital. Something we don't have in Zim. So its not like we are incompetent, our environment is setup for us to fail.

@kays1984 @SRavengai @swazineka My thinking is, its not that we lack an innovative mind... we just don't have that environment that promotes startup culture in Zim. Its difficult to build anything in Zim, even big companies closed and moved elsewhere.

While Zimbabweans expend their energies bashing their human capital brand, folks who have worked with Zimbabweans see something different, something to smile about, something to cherish and protect. Hear this one👇

@kays1984 @SRavengai @swazineka I grew up in one of the old high density surbubs in Byo, to come from nothing & be able to make something out of my life I consider that a big achievement. Running my own tech company is not my calling, but I love real estate & its what I'm currently investing in.

@kays1984 @SRavengai @swazineka And then there is me, did all my education in Zimbabwe from grade 1 to varsity and now a Tech Lead at a UK firm with 10 Senior Software Engineer under me, making £80k a year. I wonder how one can achieve this having gone through outdated education system.

#dandarostreets Milton High School has formally proposed changing its name to Bulawayo High School, arguing the institution’s identity is more closely tied to the city than to colonial administrator Sir William Milton, after whom the school was named in 1910. The proposed rebrand, made under Zimbabwe’s heritage-based education policy, could mark one of the biggest symbolic changes in Bulawayo’s education sector in years and is expected to spark debate among alumni and former students.
