It’s as if they know I have tonnes of reading and writing to do.

Thai Police Arrest Six Nigerians in AI Deepfake Romance Scam Raid
Thai police arrested six Nigerian nationals in a luxury condo raid in Nonthaburi on May 22, 2026, for allegedly running an AI-powered romance scam.
The suspects, aged 23–35, used deepfake video calls to pose as wealthy Western professionals, targeting older Thai women on Facebook Messenger and Line.
They manipulated victims into sending fake “customs fees” for non-existent gifts.
The investigation stemmed from an April 2026 cocaine bust. During the raid, one suspect tried to flee via a balcony; another hid in a bathroom.
Charges include criminal association and visa overstay, with one overstaying over 1,500 days. Fraud charges are pending.
