Boxing Day 1995. Muralitharan was 23.
Umpire Darrell Hair called him for throwing. Seven times in three overs.
Muralitharan asked what happened.
Hair said: "You are throwing. In my mind, it is a no-ball."
Captain Ranatunga moved him to the other end. That umpire didn't call him once.
Same bowler. Same action. Same match.
The ICC tested his action twice. Cleared him twice. His arm just looked like it was straightening because of the elbow condition, it was an optical illusion.
Even after the ICC cleared Muralitharan, Hair publicly called his action illegal and disgraceful.
The ICC found Hair guilty of bringing the game into disrepute.
After the humiliation, the accusations, and years of doubt, Muralitharan finished with 800 Test wickets. The most by any bowler in history.

I think Tommorow RCB should go with Phil salt for Open instead of venkatesh iyer
No doubt iyer is playing good but I think Iyer might fumble against the Gujarat Titans bowlers.
Phil is fully fit so RCB should go with him and go with iyer at 3rd number
After that use devdatt Padikkal & rajat Patidar so RCB could a good Total if batting first against GT

@Anupam22X He learned the doosra late. This controversy came before he used to bowl the doosra. Yes, the ICC changed the rule, but it was for everyone, and the rules are governed by the ICC. If they cleared the bowler, then he should be considered a legal bowler.

@NonPlyingChar He was throwing while bowling doosra, period! ICC cleared him to get SriLanka's vote and set a dangerous precedent. What the post didn't mention is ICC had to amend rules to clear Murali. If it was due to deformity in his elbow , he should have played special cricket.
