Sudden shifts in sentiment — from escalation to de-escalation and back — resulted in sharp intraday moves and, more critically, gaps between sessions. In such conditions, price does not move smoothly from level to level; it jumps. 👉💥This creates a key issue: Stop-Losses are typically placed at logical technical levels — support, resistance, or recent lows/highs. However, these are the very zones where liquidity is concentrated. The institutional traders are aware of this and prices often move through these levels before reversing. What appears to be a “false move” is frequently just the market accessing liquidity. For instance, oil saw repeated mid-week and weekend gaps, providing Stop-Loss placements ineffective. Another factor was volatility compression and expansion. Traders often set Stop-Losses based on recent, quieter price action.
