After four years driving electric I’m going back to petrol. Scotland just doesn’t have the infrastructure to provide high speed charging. There is less availability now than there was four years ago. Even when you manage to find a high speed charger, it’s usually broken.

Watching Wimbledon. Amazing to watch the winners in each round packing away the towels. These people are winning thousnds of pounds each day yet still find it necessary to steal the towels. The ground staff do attempt to retrieve them, but are only 20% successful. They cost £48

@ThePosieParker Nadiya has done very well to win the bake-off and get frequent TV appearances as well. I took part in GBBO in 2014. A lot of fun and most winners just got a plastic cake stand & a bouquet. Yes Nadiya has done all right.

A complete unknown, a Muslim woman, wins a cooking show on TV and gets a decade of very well paid work with her own show on the state broadcaster. Not sure how she’s claiming discrimination plays any part in the show coming to an end.

@NeilDrysdale My grandfather was at Passchendaele, he had nightmares about drowning in mud and the gas for the rest of his life. That's a wonderful article, a good man. What a generation, they don't make them like that anymore. The world is poorer for it.

This is a fascinating piece from the Press & Journal archives about the late "Dad's Army" actor John Laurie. I hadn't realised he had fought at the Somme and Passchendaele and suffered what we would now call PTSD. It haunted him for the rest of his life!

Received a letter from the UK Govt today, informing me of an increase in my “Benefit”. This was to let me know that the State Pension was to be increased in April. This of course is not a “Benefit” but a reward to me for contributing for over 60 years.

Anyone had success sending mail to Portugal since Brexit. So far parcels have disappeared and letters unreliable
